Stained Glass Window Cookies:
Cream shortening with sugar and add egg and honey. Combine Flour, soda, and salt. Stir vanilla and flour mixture into creamed mixture and refrigerate several hours or overnight. Roll the dough between hands ¼ inch in diameter as though it were clay. On a baking sheet covered with foil, place rolls in desired outline such as Christmas trees, bells, gingerbread men, or angels. The design should be fairly large and the bigger the opening the prettier the cookie. Carefully seal the ends of dough for strength. Sprinkle crushed lollypops into design openings and bake 375 for 8-10 minutes. When cool and firm, peel from foil, and store carefully in airtight containers. |
