Accomplishment & Pride: ¡VIVA! SA Race 2019

I recently asked a friend who participates in many races across Texas, “Why race, when you can just write a check to the organization? You run all the time! How is it different?” She answered me saying, “You get an enormous sense of accomplishment and pride. Not only are you bettering yourself by accomplishing a goal- something you’ve worked hard for, but you are adding to an endeavor that is bettering more than just yourself! And, the icing on top is that you get rewarded once you cross the finish line in the throes of hundreds of people cheering. It’s immediately satisfying, and fun too!”

Satisfying and fun is what participants will be saying about JLSA’s upcoming 7th Annual ¡VIVA! SA Race on Saturday, March 23rd at Hemisphere Plaza, one of the most popular races in South Texas! “There is something for the entire family,” Viva Committee Chair Pamela Rodriguez said. There will be a 5K, 10K, Kids Fun Run and a Competitive Race. If running is not your strong suit, then you can race from your pillow, all the while giving toward the mission of the Junior League of San Antonio that supports more than 50 non-profits and the city of San Antonio at large.

For all participants who cross the finish line, you get a “Finisher” medal, something according to Rodriguez has not been available for the past couple of years. Once the race is over, a huge celebration awaits you with a selection of food trucks, a variety of drinks and music.
