The Junior League of San Antonio Celebrates the New JLSA Education Center at Clarity Child Guidance Center Campus

Paving New Paths Campaign Support Children’s Mental Wellness

Jan. 13, 2020 — The Junior League of San Antonio, Inc. is excited to celebrate the start of renovations for the JLSA Educational Center at Clarity Child Guidance Center. A reception is scheduled for January 14, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. on the campus of Clarity Child Guidance Center, located at 8535 Tom Slick, San Antonio, TX 78229.

The JLSA Education Center will provide state-of-the-art audio/visual equipment with video streaming capability to allow Clarity to share these training sessions and continuing education events with mental healthcare providers here in Bexar County and across the country. The facility will also serve to educate and train Clarity’s next generation of caregivers and to help those currently in the profession stay current on all the latest research and topics to better care for their patients.

“Our goal is to enhance the growing narrative around children’s mental wellness. We hope to educate our community on best practices and processes to identify signs of mental issues within the family unit while providing additional resources for mental health professionals.” Yvonne Addison, President of the Junior League of San Antonio.

The Centennial Signature Project will also promote resilience and mental wellness in the greater San Antonio community by developing and implementing a research-based curriculum that will empower children and their families to build positive relationships and identify social-emotional needs in themselves and others.

“We are so thankful for the Junior League of San Antonio’s investment in the mental wellness of the kids in our community.” said Clarity CGC President & CEO Jessica Knudsen. “This JLSA Education Center will provide important information for mental health professionals and families as they care for the one in five children in our community with a mental, emotional or behavioral disorder.”

The Junior League of San Antonio hopes to make inroads towards children’s mental wellness so that future generations of children can benefit from the work done today and are thrilled to be working alongside Clarity Child Guidance Center as we help pave new paths to children’s mental wellness. Funding for this development is made possible by the Paving New Paths Trailblazers whose mission is to raise funds for the JLSA Centennial Signature Project.

About Clarity Child Guidance Center

Clarity Child Guidance Center exists to transform the lives of children and families. We are the only nonprofit treatment center in San Antonio and South Texas that specializes in children ages 3-17 who suffer from serious mental health problems. Our inpatient and outpatient programs include a range of services, from crisis stabilization to psychiatric evaluations, to ongoing therapy. We have the region’s largest staff of children’s mental health professionals at our two, family friendly campuses and several satellite locations. As a United Way agency, we provide greatly needed mental health care for children who could not otherwise afford to receive treatment.
